Meta Riddiford Kindergarten

Working with you

Our programmes focus on providing experiences that will develop your child based on their interests and experiences.  Our teachers welcome the chance to talk with you about your child - and appreciate what you can share with them about your child's life outside kindergarten.

Being involved

We enjoy having families/whānau visiting our kindergarten - you are very welcome to stay during our sessions.  You may like to become involved as one of our parent helpers, or share a skill with the children.  Practical help with cleaning up, taking home washing, donating resources or joining in on working bees is much appreciated.  Please just talk with one of our teachers about how you can be involved.

Quality at kindergarten

At all our kindergartens the teaching team will provide  your child with a high quality learning experience.  Our team of Senior Teachers provides regular professional support to the teaching team as part of our quality approach .  Our kindergartens are regularly reviewed by the Education Review Office (ERO).  You can read the latest ERO report for this kindergarten here.

Meta Riddiford Kindergarten

Our kindergarten vision is to have "An environment where fun and respect are paramount".

Children, teachers and families/whānau appreciate our friendly and personal kindergarten where being connected to the community is important to meeting the needs of our children.

We enjoy regular visits to the library and local schools and also run adult workshops for the Featherston community.

Families/whānau say the kindergarten is great for their children because the kindergarten is friendly and personal with an open door policy to pop in any time.

We believe children learn best when they feel comfortable, secure, safe and are having fun.

We encourage families/whānau to share information and stories about their child so we can follow their interests in the learning programme.

We are well known and respected in our community for our;

  • Te reo mat times where family/whānau are invited to come along and learn with us through songs, legends and games.
  • Gun Play Licence where children learn the rules (and consequences) of gun play.
  • Healthy Food Game at lunchtime which helps children recognize and enjoy healthy food and treats.

Our Teaching Team

We have five teachers who are fully qualified in early childhood education and are supported by an administrator.

Our staff bring a range of backgrounds, experience and skill to Meta Riddiford Kindergarten as well as being very much part of the Featherston and wider Wairarapa community.
