Kahurangi All Day Kindergarten

Working with you

Our programmes focus on providing experiences that will develop your child based on their interests and experiences.  Our teachers welcome the chance to talk with you about your child - and appreciate what you can share with them about your child's life outside kindergarten.

Being involved

We enjoy having families/whānau visiting our kindergarten - you are very welcome to stay during our sessions.  You may like to become involved as one of our parent helpers, or share a skill with the children.  Practical help with cleaning up, taking home washing, donating resources or joining in on working bees is much appreciated.  Please just talk with one of our teachers about how you can be involved.

Quality at kindergarten

At all our kindergartens the teaching team will provide  your child with a high quality learning experience.  Our team of Senior Teachers provides regular professional support to the teaching team as part of our quality approach .  Our kindergartens are regularly reviewed by the Education Review Office (ERO).  You can read the latest ERO report for this kindergarten here.

Kahurangi All Day Kindergarten

Kahurangi All Day Kindergarten is the only full day Kindergarten in the Wairarapa.  This enables us to offer parents the opportunity for their children to have the kindergarten experience in a full day setting

Developing strong relationships with families/whanau is foundational to our philosophy and supports our focus on establishing an environment that nurtures and educates infants, toddlers and children in our care.

The Kahurangi All Day nursery teachers have set the foundation for respectful and informed infant and toddler education and care based on the Pikler/REI approach and will continue to develop this philosophical approach.  All routines and interactions with infants and toddlers occur at their pace in an unhurried manner.  Each child in the nursery has a primary caregiver to ensure continuity of interactions and care.

The programme for children two years old and over works with their strengths, interests and needs.  Regular team planning meetings ensure strategies, equipment and opportunities are developed and implemented by teachers to extend and deepen knowledge, skills and abilities

An extension programme is planned for children in the afternoon where teachers work with small groups of children at a range of experiences e.g. carpentry, sewing, art extension, baking.

Our Fees

$5.11 per hour

3, 4 & 5 year olds are eligible for 20 Hours ECE.

Our Teaching Team

We have eight teachers who bring a range of skills, abilities and early childhood experience to our kindergarten.

The nursery teachers specialist skills and experience ensure toddlers are receiving the best possible care and educational input.

The teachers for children 2 years and older have a range of strengths including music, science, literacy and numeracy.

Our philosophy revolves around respectful relationships and supporting children's interpersonal skills and working with their strengths and interests.
